Despite so much research by scientists and experts, we have been certain unexplained phenomena that we call unexplained mysteries.
Let us have a look at the top 10 unsolved mysteries of the world.
1. Crop Circles
A crop circle is a sizable pattern created by a crop’s flattening, such as wheat, barley, rye, maize, or rapeseed.
During the last 20 years, crop circles have evolved into complex geometric shapes, like the DNA double helix or the nautilus shell.
In 1966, an Australian sugarcane farmer reported the first-ever crop circle, claiming to see a saucer-shaped spaceship rise from a swamp before flying away.
Arguments are going between scientists that whether such crop circles are because of extra-terrestrial forces or a hoax by some people.
2. The Pyramids of Egypt
The pyramids of Giza in Egypt are mysterious. Still, we don’t know how the Egyptians built the largest pyramid of all, known as the Great Pyramid of Cheops (or Khufu), some 5,000 years ago, even before the wheel’s invention.
This particular pyramid is the size of a 40-story building. Hence, lifting rocks from the ground to such great heights remains an unexplained fact.
3. Sasquatch: The Bigfoot
There have been claims by people, particularly the ones residing in Northern America, of seeing the comic character in reality. It is an ape-like creature, between 6-10 feet tall, weighing more than 500 pounds, and covered in dark brown or reddish hair.
People who claim to have witnessed him give him large eyes, a heavy brow ridge, and a crested head, much like a male gorilla. Teams of scientists continue to seek out photo evidence, which is also thin on the ground.
4. UFOs and Area 51
A UFO is an apparent anomaly in the sky that is not readily identifiable as any known object or phenomenon by visual observation or using associated instrumentation such as radar. They were referred to popularly as flying saucers or flying discs.
The first reported UFO sighting happened in Texas in 1878, when a local farmer reported seeing a large, dark, circular flying object. UFO conspiracy theories center around Area 51 in Nevada (north of Las Vegas).
5. The Belmez Faces
In 1971, in the small Spanish village of Belmez, Maria Pereira claimed a human face spontaneously appeared on her cement kitchen floor. It wasn’t long before she destroyed the floor and replaced it – and a new face promptly appeared.
Some were male, some female, some large, and some small. In time, she discovered that the house, built around 1830, apparently stood above a graveyard.
6. The Out of Body Experience
An ‘Out of Body Experience’ is defined by your awareness being transferred beyond your physical body. Many people claim to experience it while practicing lucid dreaming techniques.
According to Ati, OBE’s are not at all paranormal. Rather, they’re more like a hallucination that is most likely caused by a perturbed brain that, for some reason, can’t compute the different flows of sensory information.
7. The Mayan 2012 Prophecy
This is the most talked-about mystery in the last few years. The theory is based on the idea that when the ancient Mayans plotted our Milky Way position, they created a special astrological calendar.
And on the Winter Solstice (in the Northern hemisphere) in 2012, the Earth would pass into a new astrological phase, and something dramatic would happen.
Stonehenge is one of the greatest unexplained mysteries of the world. It is not a hoax and is probably the most important prehistoric monument in the whole of Britain.
The mystery behind the structure is that it is believed to be 5,000 years old and is still a standing structure.
9. Loch Ness Monster
This is a prehistoric creature thought to inhabit Loch Ness in the Scottish Highlands. As lake monsters go, Scotland has tales of a fair few, with Nessie gaining the most popular of all on the back of anecdotal evidence. People who have seen the character claim that the animal resembles a dragon.
10. Bermuda Triangle
Countless airplanes and boats in the ocean between Florida, San Juan, and Bermuda have disappeared. Many paranormal talks have been associated with this mystery.
Some people who have claimed to survive the Bermuda Triangle have claimed that they saw aircraft flew off to Mars.
Apart from these mysteries, there have been many stories/claims where even science has failed to justify.
We all are eager for the day when some of these mysteries would be decoded.
